Charlotte has the fastest Latino population growth in the U.S. (168% population growth) due to cost of living and employment opportunities. Latinos represent 14% of the population and $4.2 billion in buying power.

The U.S. 2012 Economic Census estimate showed that Latinos have a higher entrepreneurial mindset, 96% growth rate in the number of businesses compared to 20% of all firms in the Charlotte region. Latino-owned firms represent 8.5% of the business community in the Queen City.

Taking this in consideration and following the Mission and Vision of the organization, the Latin American Chamber of Commerce of Charlotte organized the 3rd Annual Small Business Expo with the support of Wells Fargo, Duke Energy, SunTrust, Charlotte Business Resources, The Employers Association, Fifth Third Bank, Verizon and Rock Hill Nissan.

Small Business Expo 2018

With a participation of 51 small businesses from of a variety of industries, we had the opportunity to taste delicious pizza and pastries; meet health care, law, restyling and construction professionals; connect with photographers and event planners, and try some fashion and ethnic products.

“We are so happy with the results. This type of events help small companies to promote their products and services to potential clients, but also to connect with other companies,” said Rocio Gonzalez, Executive Director at the Latin American Chamber of Commerce of Charlotte.

“This year we wanted to have more diversity, reason why we opened the call to Latino and Non-Latino companies; as well to big corporations so they could offer services that benefit the small companies,” added Gonzalez.

“Rocio pursued me to become a member and participate in one of the educational programs Fifth Third Bank Advance Business Builder Program. As a business owner sometimes you need fresh ideas. We are entrepreneurs but sometimes we need someone to push us, not like a boss, but as positive people to tell you to keep going”, added Ivonne in her presentation.
