Paula Aguilera is from Bogotá, Colombia.  She migrated to Maiden, North Carolina in 1999 with her mother, at the age of 11. As a result of her aptitude for learning she was enrolled in the 7th grade and was the only Spanish speaking student in the entire school. Paula quickly adopted English as a second Language. In high school Paula took French and graduated with French Honors from Hickory High School in North Carolina.  After graduating High School Paula attended Catawba Valley Community College where she was part of their Volleyball team.


In 2006, Paula accepted a position with Verizon Wireless in Hickory, North Carolina.  As a result of her initiative and organizational skills, she helped to improve sales in the location.  She was also recognized by the South Area Regional President for her outstanding and consistency in high Customer Service ratings. Paula moved to Mooresville, NC and after three months was able to transfer to the Mooresville location as a Sales Representative.  Paula continued her success in sales for the Mooresville Verizon location. During her tenure at this location she generated 120% increase in growth and 180% increase in revenue. 

After a year in sales, she was nominated for the inaugural Verizon Career Builders program and was promoted to Assistant Sales Manager before the program had concluded. Paula worked as the Assistant Sales Manager at the Lake Norman-Huntersville location for a year where she led a team of 20 individuals.


In 2011 decided to focus on her personal development and skills, and enrolled at Ashford University for her Masters in E-commerce. In 2012, Paula began working with AFLAC (American Life Assurance Company of Columbus) where she led an initiative to educate the Charlotte’s Hispanic community on health care reform. During this work she obtained a HOSA certification for the Healthcare Reform Act. She also became a member of the LACCC (Latin American Chamber of Commerce of Charlotte) and for the first time acknowledged her passion of helping others. This exposure led her to starting a business with her mother in 2013. She helped to lead the business as CFO. Paula was able to help grow the business from 4 to 12 employees and from 30 to 150 customers. Her sales experience and networking skills afforded her the opportunity to be involved with LeTip a networking organization where she also served as a Tip Master, Vice President, and later on as President.


As a business owner, Paula knows first- hand the need for personal development. She has had the opportunity to participate in programs such as LACCC’ Business Builder as well as the LEADING UP Programs. She now serves as Director of Membership and Programs for the Latin American Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte.
